Our Story
How a small pizza shop on Preston Road became a Dallas neighborhood institution.
Back in 1998, The Pizza Dude opened its doors on Preston Road in North Dallas with a simple idea: make pizza the right way, every single day, and treat every customer like a neighbor. No corporate playbooks. No frozen shortcuts. Just real ingredients, real recipes, and a genuine love for great food.
While national chains were competing to see who could make pizza the cheapest and fastest, we went the other direction. We built our menu around a homemade sourdough dough that we prepare fresh every morning. We chose 100% natural cheese over processed alternatives. We committed to hand-cutting every vegetable in-house rather than opening bags from a supplier. And we developed a signature red sauce that simmers for three full days before it ever touches a pie.
That commitment to doing things the hard way — the right way — is what has kept the Dallas community coming back for more than three decades. We have watched kids grow up eating our pizza, graduate, start families, and bring their own children back to the same table at 17390 Preston Road. We have fed Friday night football teams, Saturday birthday parties, and Sunday family dinners. We have delivered pizza (and beer and wine) to homes across North Dallas, Addison, and Carrollton thousands of times over.
Today, The Pizza Dude is still independently owned and operated from the same Preston Road location where it all started. Our recipes have not changed. Our standards have not dropped. And our commitment to the neighborhood has only grown stronger. With over 650 Google reviews and a 4.5-star rating, we are proud to be one of the highest-rated independent pizza restaurants in the DFW area — not because of marketing, but because of what comes out of our oven every single day.
